FDSD at Cupula dos Povos: workshop sessions on the manifesto for democracy and sustainable development, 15th June

FDSD will be running two sessions to develop the people’s manifesto on democracy and sustainable development at Cupula dos Povos, the People’s Summit, part of Rio+20.

The two sessions take place in the Future Territories spaces, t1f, Leila Diniz, with the first from 1130-1330, and the second from 1630-1830.

Launch of process to develop the first people’s manifesto for democracy and sustainable development

A process to develop the world’s first people’s manifesto for democracy and sustainable development will kick off in Rio de Janeiro on June 16th 2012. The manifesto process, led by the Foundation for Democracy and Sustainable Development (FDSD), aims to provide a platform for action around the world to ensure that democracy is properly equipped to deliver sustainable development outcomes.

Speaking about the manifesto process, FDSD’s Director Halina Ward said:

FDSD at Rio+20: panel session on future generations and the public interest, 14th June 2012

FDSD is among the partners in a major one-day international seminar in Rio de Janeiro on June 14th led by Brazil’s Ministério Público Federal.

Titled Além do Rio: Diálogos com a sociedade civil para a Rio+20. Panel sessions will focus on the social justice and sustainable development, with discussions on environmental justice, sustainable urbanisation, public participation, and the balance between future generations and the public interest, among other topics.
