A few weeks ago, we attended the annual conference of Friends of the Earth here in London. A sold-out event, the conference is the major annual gathering of local group members, staff, volunteers, and guests. Our friend Anna Watson was kind enough to share with us a table in their stalls area, so we were able to gather more input on our Manifesto through fascinating discussions with FoE members.
We put together a short video of the day, to give you a feeling of the kind of issues the FoE community is passionate about. Enjoy!

I think there should be some essential points be regarded in the manifesto for change:
With the technological age our doings reaching more and more out far into time and space. As a result an older minority in the industrial nations are acting very much at the expense of a large majority in the particularly affected regions of the planet and following generations. This kind of democracy can not be compatible with human rights if ones aware in addition, that in virtually all company, organisations and institutions only older people are winning greater influence from which they are concerned the less.
Out of its tradition our compassion, conscience and legal awareness is sensible and active much more for direct and immediate crime and disaster and rather insensible for indirect, global and long-term crime and disaster which all in all are considerably more serious, fatal and insidiously.
Out of these two points this said majority is particularly effected and threatened. Accordingly their human rights must be represented, defended and demanded in the present.
Also in the here and now we will benefit in quality from a globally acceptable and sustainable way of life. It is a win win situation. All we have to lose is dull excesses, extreme inequality and depressive emptiness.
Please excuse my english which is maybe even misunderstanding. To these issues I wrote several assays and posts* in german and at last an appeal**. I beg you to sign, to pass and publish him. I will be happy to hear from you.
With kind regards, Bernhard
